What would you say most motivates you to do what you do?
Challenges, when one ventures into new territories, motivate me every day. No field is out of bounds for me.
What led you to your current role?
A long journey, the passion to do what brings energy into me while contributing to the growth of an organization, empowering members of my team to take over my role one day.
Did you have any key mentors or people who deeply influenced you, can you tell us about them?
After my mother, my Ph.D. Advisor Professor Sambhu Nath Datta of IIT Bombay, has key role in my success. Besides that there are few influential personalities in the Sanathan Dharma, for example Hanuman, who perform actions to make others successful, while he never fails in delivering. Another person the master strategist, economist, and leader creator - Chankya, whose concepts were later reiterated by Machiavelli.
Can you describe to us a current project/transformation you are working on?
I am on the journey of transforming one of the most complex industries, the oil and gas industry, with Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and other Emerging Technologies.
What has this project taught you?
Having done data analytics in multiple industries, working in oil and gas industry, just re-established the fact, that every industry has similar challenges, that is more to do with blockers of innovation, the unfound fear of job losses, and eventually agreeing to the fact the insights and actions from data driven approaches, leads to growth of the industry.
What excites you most about the future?
There are many industries, which needs disruption sooner or later and data driven innovation will bring that disruption, by using the data, AI, and related emerging technologies. I believe I am in the right profession for the right reasons and will continue to contribute the growth of the field of data driven innovation and transformation.
If you could give 1 piece of advice to someone looking to start a career in data & analytics, what would it be?
Keep an open mind, speak what data tells not don't be afraid of people who want to derail analytical insights with politics.
