Erozan Kurtas is the Founder and the CEO of Know Your Data (KYD) Analytics LLC; a start up firm specializing in building affordable Data Analytics systems for Investment Advisers and Broker Dealers.
Erozan was the Senior Vice President and Head of the Advanced Data Analytics Department at FINRA. In this role, Erozan lead the development of analytical tools that uses Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing algorithms and predictive models that will transform FINRA into a data driven organization.
Before joining FINRA, he was at the Securities and Exchange Commission as an Assistant Director, where he founded and led the Quantitative Analytics Unit (QAU). In this role, he oversaw the growth of QAU from one person to over 25 in staff, most of them with advanced degrees like PhDs in technical fields. The focus of the department was to apply Machine Learning, Text Analytics, AI and Deep Learning techniques to identify fraud in financial institutions and markets. He also launched and led groundbreaking projects during his tenure at the SEC: National Exam Analytics Tool (NEAT) for blotter analytics, High Frequency Analytics Lab (HAL) for the examination of high frequency firms, Machine Analyzed Risk Scoring (MARS) to risk rank all the IAs for exam planning, and Anti-Money Laundering models and systems, to name a few of them. Prior to entering the financial world, Erozan was the Head of a Research and Development Department at Seagate Technology.

Erozan holds a Ph.D. from Northeastern University in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He also holds an MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University. Erozan is the author/co-author of two books published by CRC Press. He has over 100 peer reviewed articles in the general field of information theory and statistical signal processing that have appeared in top journals and conferences. Erozan holds 20 patents issued by the USPTO.
