Associate Director of the Institute for Innovation and Improvement; Head of Person-Centred Design, Waitemata District Health Board
Jarrard is a social anthropologist with a passion for putting people’s experience at the heart of public health. He has worked to improve experience in complex healthcare organisations for almost two decades, both in New Zealand and the UK. He implemented the UK’s largest electronic patient feedback system before returning home to New Zealand where he took on a national role to improve consumer engagement and experience in the mental health sector.
After taking up a role with Waitematā District Health Board, Jarrard led the development of a patient experience programme and has since moved into the innovation team to help develop the DHB’s Institute for Innovation and Improvement. His goal is to make sure that the DHB keeps people at the heart of all innovation and improvement activities.
Jarrard is also completing his PhD looking at Māori experience of the health system
