Principal Advisor – Data Leadership and Capability, Stats NZ
With several decades of experience scoping and implementing information strategies and systems, Kevin has worked in numerous advisory capacities in New Zealand and the United States, including as founding partner of a strategic consulting firm and independently offering management consulting services. In these roles he successfully counselled government, business and political leaders on the strategic and business value of data and information assets.
Kevin currently serves as Principal Advisor - Data Leadership and Capability at Stats NZ and is data governance lead for the Data Capability Hub, an initiative to support agencies as they build data capability and develop data culture and maturity. Kevin chaired the cross-government Data Governance Framework Working Group and is the published author of a capability-based operational Data Governance Framework being deployed as a model across NZ government. He is also co-author of the Holistic Data Governance Approach and an assessment tool that ensures data agenda outcomes support organisational business imperatives.
Kevin holds a Master of Arts in Geography and Regional Development from the University of Arizona and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Northern Arizona University.
