Mike is the Lead Data Scientist at State Farm Insurance. Mike helped to start the Data Science practice at State Farm. Along the way, he has been applying machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence to business problems, and evangelizing for ML informed decision making, since about 2013.
Mike believes that data scientists that can consult, build models, test their code, and deploy code to production are impossibly valuable and can drive change. In his time as a data scientist, Mike has built a novel system that uses computer vision and deep learning to estimate property damage, an Apache Spark based lamba architecture system for identifying IT outages in an extremely complicated application and a system to identify trends and anomalies in insurance claims data, using text analytics.
