Sameer is a researcher at heart and loves innovating and solving business problems practically. He has an affinity for exploring end-consumer needs and driving business strategies around this. He is passionate about unlocking the value of data through analytics. Sameer has undergraduate degrees in mathematics and economic science, an MBA and is currently an Applied Mathematics and Computer Science PhD candidate, focussing on applying machine learning algorithms to encrypted data. He has a postgraduate qualification in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University, California and has recently completed a year-long Technology and Business Analytics Executive Education programme through Georgia Tech, Atlanta. He has extensive retail banking experience, ranging from day-to-day branch operations, financial management, strategy development, data-warehousing and business intelligence. His most recent role within the Banking Sector was part of a team who managed a R400 million FinTech venture capital fund. He also spent a number of years as a strategy consultant. More recently, he managed the competitor strategy area at SABMiller and was the consumer innovation lead for AB InBev Africa. He now heads up both the Innovation, and Analytics areas for Africa at AB InBev.
