Statement on Coronavirus COVID-19

11th March 2020:

Our events are proceeding as scheduled with preventative measures in place.

Due to the current situation relating to the outbreak of COVID-19 Virus, Corinium Global Intelligence would like to reassure all our sponsors, attendees, staff and partners that we are closely monitoring the situation and, in cooperation with our venues, we will be taking all sensible steps to ensure that our conferences proceed safely and successfully.

The health of our employees, customers, and partners is our primary concern and we’re following the guidelines and recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and local public health and government authorities.

Recommendations by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) with regard to public events

As of 8th March 2020, the AHPPC advises that the risk to the general Australian population from COVID-19 is low, with the majority of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Australia in returned travellers.

"At this time the AHPPC consider that public events should proceed, but strongly recommend that people that are unwell with cough or fever or other respiratory symptoms should not attend public events or gatherings. This is particularly so for people who have recently travelled from overseas."

Please refer to the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) page for updates.

With the situation evolving, we also encourage our participants, vendors and staff to consult these sources as they prepare for an event.

It is also worth noting that our events are attended primarily by delegates based in the host city and with virtually no international attendance.

You can all help us to have a safe and successful event by following the simple advice of the WHO as you travel to and whilst attending our conferences:

  • Wash your hands frequently: Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
  • Maintain social distancing: Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  • Practice respiratory hygiene: Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
  • If you have mild respiratory symptoms and no recent travel history to China or other affected areas, please practice basic respiratory and hand hygiene and – ideally - stay at home until you have recovered.
  • Avoid traveling at all if you have a temperature or a cough or a sore throat. If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early: Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.

Please also note:

  • Physical contact has been shown to aid the transmission of Coronavirus. Several of our larger international clients have issued “handshake bans” within their organisations. Please do not be offended if somebody refuses to shake hands with you – they are taking sensible precautions and are likely to be following their own corporate guidelines.
  • We are carefully following government guidance, which, among other things, is to have good hand and respiratory hygiene and have introduced hand sanitisers at key locations around our events.

At this time, we are not permitting any attendance by individuals from countries for which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has assigned a travel health notice, in order to protect the health and well-being of attendees, sponsors, partners, speakers and staff. This page is being updated with a list of those countries. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask for understanding in this urgent global situation. At the present time, these countries account for less than 1% of our total attendance, so do not expect the event experience to be negatively impacted by these exclusions.

We will continue to observe the situation and should Government advice change, or any additional precautions be advisable, we will react immediately and ensure this is communicated to all attendees and sponsors.

If you have any questions, please contact us at info@coriniumintel.com.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates on this page.
