At this year’s IBM CDO Strategy Summit, Spring in San Francisco, IBM Institute for Business Value has put together an executive study looking into the value a CDO will bring for a company and what tools they are employing.
Exploring key findings relating to the role of the Chief Data Officer (CDO), analytical maturity and the dawn of the Cognitive Era, some of the discoveries include:
- 70% of organizations surveyed are ‘Cognitive Learning Capable’ but just 14% are currently implementing.
- 41% of organizations surveyed have a CDO or equivalent, with 70% reporting that they are more innovative than most in their industry as a result.
- 87% of organizations surveyed, that have appointed a CDO or equivalent, are ‘Cognitive Learning Capable’ versus 61% of organizations surveyed without a CDO or equivalent in place.
- Organizations surveyed, that have appointed a CDO or equivalent, employ a wider range of analytical techniques and analyze a wider range of data sources, compared to organizations surveyed without a CDO or equivalent in place.
