CISOs Can't Afford to Ignore Active Directory

Old, avoided and potentially vulnerable, Active Directory and identity stores can be a major risk waiting to materialise.

While multiple security layers often exist to protect organisations from outside threats, the fundamental configurations and hygiene of identity management storage systems are often suboptimal.

With the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) and other global security bodies providing new guidance on detecting and mitigating identity compromises, organisations face increasing pressure to take action.

However, the path to comprehensively de-risking identity remains unclear for many security leaders.

In this report, we will explore de-risking identity across three chapters, supported by insights from five cybersecurity leaders from Australian organisations. The discussions will cover topics including current identity maturity perceptions and considerations for cleaning up stores, to challenges around prioritising de-risk initiatives.

Featuring contributing insights from:

  • Jamie Norton, Cybersecurity Consultant
  • Jo Stewart-Rattray, Chief Security Officer, Silver Chain Group
  • Sandeep Taileng, Information Security Leader, State Trustees
  • Maryam Shoraka, Head of Cyber Security Operations, NSW Department of Communities and Justice
  • Ben Mudie, Principal Security Engineer, Australia & New Zealand, Tenable
