We are pleased to be working with our media partner, IQ International on our Chief Data & Analytics Officer Brisbane event, where they will be sharing some of their work in developing best practice data quality metrics for every industry.
We will be joined by Dan Myers (USA), President at IQ International. We caught up with him ahead of the conference to learn more about the work they do.
Corinium: Dan, you're the president of IQ International and I understand that you and the IQ International board have organized Data Quality (DQ) Metric working groups and will share about them during the 2020 CDAO conferences. Can you expand on what drove the need for these working groups?
Dan Myers: Yes, first, let me thank you for inviting us to share about the instrumental work we're leading through the working groups. The 2018 Annual Dimensions of Data Quality survey exposed a need for detailed example Data Quality (DQ) metrics that were specific to each industry, such as banking, healthcare, telecommunications...etc.
Corinium: Dan, what is the working group format and how many groups are currently in session?
Dan Myers: The working groups meet either weekly or every two weeks (decided by each group) via Zoom webinar session. There are three industry specific DQ Metrics working groups in session right now: Telecommunications, Healthcare and Manufacturing. The Healthcare group has published their first batch of metrics and a playbook which helps organizations get started with the DQ process and offers industry specific suggestions.
Corinium: How was the healthcare playbook developed and what are some of the common pitfalls that people can avoid by using the playbook?
